For thirteen years, from 1956 until his assassination in 1968, he was the organizing force and principal voice of America&#8217;s civil rights movement.<\/p>\n<p>Challenging racial injustices, Dr. King was a catalyst for transformative societal changes. The landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights act of 1965 are examples of his achievements.
